Summary: The archaeological expedition of the National Museum of the Republic of Karelia in 2019 conducted a survey on the territory of the Marcial Waters Resort in order to search for the remains of a complex of buildings of the first half of the XVIII century. During the work, the presence of intact cultural strata in the settlement was established, which can be correlated with the “Petrovsky” stage of the history of the settlement in the first quarter of the XVIII century. According to archival and bibliographic materials, the palace of Peter the Great, mineral springs and a courtyard area were located in this place. Archaeological work has made it possible to localize the spread of the cultural layer, to determine its preservation and the prospects for further study. The archaeological pit showed the presence of a layer of fascine and boards laid on it. The absence of traces of buildings and object finds does not detract from the importance and importance for understanding the construction history of the surveyed area. New excavations in the future are likely to reveal artifacts from the period of operation near the water sources of the Palace of Peter I.
