Summary: The relevance of this article is due to the insufficient study of the functioning of the professional marine vocabulary in the northern texts of Russian literature. The research novelty is in the fact that the paper presents the first- of-its-kind analysis of the semantic space of fishermen and sailors’ professional vocabulary in Yevgeny Bogdanov’s novel The Pomors. The purpose of the study was to conduct a linguistic analysis of the professional marine vocabulary in the said novel. The article offers a classification of the professional marine vocabulary used in this book, analyzes the selected words, and gives their lexicographic and etymological description. The research methodology included the descriptive and statistical methods, namely the classification, linguistic generalization, systematization and description of the collected material as part of the professional vocabulary of fishermen and sailors of the Arkhangelsk North. The analysis of data from dialectological, linguo-historical, and etymological dictionaries suggests that the studied vocabulary has always been a part of active Russian vocabulary and has always been used by people.
