Summary: This paper describes the features of digital educational text which aff ect the approach to its analysis in
the aspect of multimodality. Currently, digital texts are actively used in educational contexts. Such texts have a number
of distinctive features at the level of structure and content, which aff ects students’ comprehension and perception.
This makes the phenomenon of digital text a relevant object for study in the linguistic aspect. The novelty of the research
refers to developing a theoretical approach to the digital educational text analysis. The main objective of this
paper is to describe the key characteristics and peculiarities of the approaches to the study of digital texts as a complex
semiotic object. Both theoretical and practical research methods were applied to achieve the aim of the study. Studies
on the linguistic and discursive features of digital text were analyzed and summarized to identify the essential parameters
for analysis. Qualitative data were collected through a survey among teachers using digital educational texts.
The study revealed that multimodal text analysis is the most promising direction of digital educational text analysis, since it enables to analyze not only separate modalities, but also their unity, taking into account multiple and multilevel connections between them. This approach let future researchers to create highly accurate stimulus materials for empirical data. |
