Summary: The development of the American post-war propaganda apparatus is one of the most pressing issues in the study of the Cold War. However, despite this, the problems associated with the systemic use of cinema as a meansof ideological influence during this period received practically no coverage. The article is the first attempt to consider the place and role of film propaganda as a structural element in the system of the American propaganda mechanism under the administrations of G. Truman and D. Eisenhower. For this, the main stages in the development of the US propaganda apparatus are established, and their characteristics are carried out. The work of the US Information Agency, the connections and relationships of the CIA representatives with Hollywood filmmakers are investigated. The analysis provided allows the author to draw the conclusion about the evolution of the propaganda influence mechanisms in the United States by the end of the 1950s, as well as the formation of film propaganda as one of the main tools of the ideological struggle in the Cold War.
