Summary: The relevance of the research topic is determined by the need for scholarly understanding of modern fi ction in general, the works of Guzel Yakhina, one of the most popular contemporary Russian writers, in particular, and the principles of punctuation marks placement in the texts of large-scale genres from the perspective of linguistic stylistics. Special emphasis is placed on the collective nature of pre-printing literary text preparation – by the author, literary agents, editors, typesetters and proofreaders. Such preparation for publication turns the author’s text into a secondary one and eliminates the concept of the “author’s punctuation” as such. The main research method was the linguistic and stylistic interpretation of literary text at superfi cial and deep levels. The main result of the analysis was the conclusion that it was reasonable to include the punctuation design of Guzel Yakhina’s novel My Children in the general linguistic and stylistic system of this work, which enhances its aesthetic impact on readers.
