Summary: The Finnish and Karelian contexts of the Russo-Swedish wars are very poorly studied in Russian historiography. Analyzing the current situation, the author draws attention to the need to study and compare the national historiographies of Russia and Finland in order to consider historical events and processes in a comparative-historical and cross-cultural perspective. According to the author, the joint appeal of historians of both countries to the regional and local dimension of the triad “history-memory-trauma” can help overcome the destructive consequences of historical traumatic experiences, help to correct national grand narratives and reduce the threats of securitization of history.
