Summary: The article deals with the issues of existence in 1706–1727 women’s old believers’ settlements on the Leksa. The purpose of the study is to identify the basic rules of settlement life, taking into account the ideological features of the worldview of old believers. On the basis of a comprehensive analysis of official documents and sources of old believers’ origin, an attempt is made to penetrate into the inner world of the community closed to the uninitiated, in order to explore it from the inside from the positions of the old believers themselves. Among the statutory rules for women, it is necessary to distinguish between the statutes written for the women’s Department of the Vyg commoncommunity, and the statutes for the Leksa monastery, founded in 1706. Typologically, the Leksa settlement is defined as a female monastery, but differs from a traditional monastery in that both nuns and laywomen could participate in its management. The study of the leadership of the settlement and the definition of the range of its activities allowed us to conclude that the main thing for the leaders of the monastery on the Leksa was to maintain the rules of the communal charter.
