Summary: The aim of the article is to explore the phenomenon of the Arkhangelsk residents (based on the materials of oral and written sources) cultural memory on the objects deformation of the City Orthodox History; to identify the main cultural meanings and interpretations of these events; to analyze the influence of modern forms of implementing the memory of cult buildings demolition and desecration on collective representations and their translation to the folklore and speech practice. The study was carried out in line with the anthropological approach and is based on an interdisciplinary principle. The undertaken study allows us to trace the dynamics of mass representations. Religious narratives are part of the modern cultural memory of the inhabitants of Arkhangelsk. Their analysis indicates that the religious narratives are located on the periphery of the local community cultural memory and replaced by the values of the Soviet period, but the emergence of new religious objects actualized the need for obtaining information about the history of the Arkhangelsk churches by the part of the local community.
