Summary: The following paper is based on an investigation of personal diary notes of a Russian diplomat G. Planson (1859–?) that were taken during the period of 1910 to 1913. G. Planson was based in Siam as Charge d’Affaires and General Consul during 1910–1916 period. These diaries in particular, as well as multiple other private information sources from other workers of Russian diplomatic mission, are, to this day, only scarcely studied, if ever subjected to any scientific analysis at all. This fact thus supports the relevancy of this research. Contents of G. Planson’s diaries could be virtually split into four main topics: relationships between Siam and Russian Empire, international life in Bangkok, downtime exploits as a member of an embassy, and incoming/outgoing correspondence registration. Based on the following analysis one could both easily determine the overall impression that Siam Kingdom gave a Russian diplomat, as well as trace overall tendencies and attitudes within diplomatic circles of 1910’s Bangkok. Microhistorical research methodology is being applied in the current paper.
