Summary: This paper presents one of the interpretation ways of the not enough studied novel “Moscow” (1926–1932) by Andrey Belyi, affected by color symbolic in description of the city and in creating of two antagonistic characters. Three colours have been analysed: yellow, red and golden, as well as their individual shades and modifications (leopard shade and ash yellow), which build with the other shades (like black, grey etc.) a unified color ornament of the whole novel. Interpretation of color decisions in the novel’s text allows to show their genesis through applying to writer’s corresponding and his memories. Connections have been built with the early works of Andrey Belyi of the symbolist period of his work, and a deeper level of the novel has been explored. A general conclusion has been made concerning the individual style of the writer, where the color as well as the other text categories, build an increased semiotic meaning. A way has been suggested for a new reading and interpretation of one of the most complex artworks of the XX. century. It would make possible in the future to build a way of creative evolution of the writer and to incorporate his novel into the literary landscape of the XX.century in domestic culture.
