Summary: The article is devoted to the analysis of the parataxis structure functioning features in B. Pasternak’s prose. Analysis of parataxis structures in the aspect of text formation raises questions of homogeneity, order of components, conditionality, compatibility principles. The article aims to identify the cognitive motivation and text parameters syntax structure of parataxis. Parataxis is considered from the point of text formation. Basic methods of analysis are text-centered and cognitive . The subjects of analysis – fragments of the novel “Doctor Zhivago”. Their main structural element is the paratactic series. Parataxis is based on different types of homogeneity. The term “homogeneity”, in our understanding, is based on the lexico-semantic, functional and communicative proximity of the series components. This enables to include into constructions not only the structure of simple sentences with homogeneous parts, but the sequences of simple sentences. The increase in the structure of the series enhances its communicative importance and forms the setting for the transfer of the internal monologue the flow of consciousness. Integration of parataxis components is often based on subjective, pragmatic-emotive synonymy, pragmatic equalization of components. The order of components in a series structure is often based on probabilistic preferences, occasional hierarchies. The analyzed syntactic constructions are involved in the formation of the narrative type of sentence. The relations of co-location become an additional condition for the formation of the principle of montage.
