Summary: This article reconstructs the records of the spiritual testament of Pavel Mikhailovich Zubov, a resident of the Kildinsky Pogost in the Kola District. Materials discovered in the State Archives of the Arkhangelsk Region and the Russian State Historical Archive provide additional information about the participation of benefactors in the restoration of the Pechenga Monastery in the 1880s. Based on an analysis of the text of the testament, it can be assumed that Pavel Zubov, an active supporter of the development of northern territories, already in the 1870s supported the idea of the need to restore the Pechenga Monastery, which operated in the Kola North from the 16th to the 18th centuries and was closed in 1764 during the secularization reform of Catherine II. Pavel Zubov’s home spiritual testament, drawn up in 1874, recorded the need to transfer a sum of money to the Pechenga Monastery, which did not yet exist at that time. The analysis of archival materials examines the nature of interactions between local, diocesan, and central authorities in deciding how to use bequeathed capital.
