Summary: The purpose of this article is to identify the main strategies for representing the image of a new Soviet
university in the Soviet press of the 1920s and to understand what justifications were offered by specialists to explain
various experiments in this area. The novelty of this approach lies in the fact that, unlike most studies in this field, the
author of this article shifted the focus from analyzing the specific results of the Soviet scientific and educational policy
of the first post-revolutionary years to studying the practices of representation of the latter. To achieve the set goals and
objectives, the author turned to the publications of the Scientific Worker journal, which expressed the official opinion
of the Central Council of the Section of Scientists of the Union of Educational Workers of the USSR. Based on the
analysis of these materials, the author comes to the conclusion that in the second half of the 1920s, the image of the
Soviet university was constructed using such basic ideas as breaking with previous pre-revolutionary traditions, focusing on the best world educational standards and trends, and strengthening the practical component through establishing the connection between the education system and the manufacturing sector. |
