Summary: An attempt has been made to understand changes in a media text from the point of view of its functional and stylistic characteristics, including features of the genre (format), the use of linguistic means and speech creativity. These changes are due to the mutual dependence of modern society and the media, which has radically affected the nature and structure of mass communication. As the leading unit of media flow, the media text has become characterized by genre enrichment, syncretism of formats, expansion of the range of visual and expressive means, accentuation of the subjective view of the transmitted information, democratization in the use of linguistic means, including the wider use of stylistically reduced and emotional-evaluative vocabulary, phraseological units, constructions characteristic of conversational syntax, etc. – such linguistic resources that reflect the linguistic picture of the world of the “media person” as a participant in mass communication. The study of these features of modern media text as a mirror of the “media man” makes it possible to scientifically comprehend media communication as one of the most important activities of modern man.
