About the Journal

From 1947 to 1975 Petrozavodsk State University issued a journal. Its title was quite academic. At first it was Proceedings of Karelo-Finnish University and then it was changed to Proceedings of Petrozavodsk O.V. Kuusinen State University. In 2008 the journal was relaunched and got its traditional title Proceedings of Petrozavodsk State University.

At present Petrozavodsk State University, one of the largest universities in Northwest Russia, performs extensive scientific work. Scientific schools in the field of plasma physics; mathematical modeling and information technology; microelectronics; history and theory of architecture; medicine; biology and ecology; philology; engineering; economics; political and social sciences have gained both domestic and international recognition. Without question, research results require publication. This is one of the main reasons of relaunching the journal and its objective as well. Petrozavodsk State University is a member of the Russian-Finnish Cross-Border University consortium and the Northern European Open University consortium; these institutions comprise over thirty universities from both sides of the border. Apart from that, Petrozavodsk State University actively collaborates with higher educational institutions in the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Japan and other countries. The results of this international collaboration are reflected in the journal.
