Summary: The aim of the research was to build a typological system of Swedish novels written between the second
half of the XX and the early XXI centuries. The Swedish prose of the indicated period still remains poorly accessible
and insuffi ciently studied, therefore, the novelty of the research is determined by introducing to scholars those Swedish
novels that have not been studied or even translated in Russia and by proposing a typological approach to their study.
The relevance of the study lies in identifying the universal and individual features of Swedish literature in the period
of globalization and the related problems of preserving national identity. Using the semantic and structural typological
methods of analysis, the author reveals four fundamental confl icts in the Swedish novels of the period under study: social,
political, religious and ethical, and psychological ones. Within each group, the characteristic genre modifi cations
of the novels are indicated, which make it possible to take into account the semantic and formal components of the text. The study of the priority forms, as well as original and universal authors’ approaches enables to determine the nature of development of the Swedish novel during this period and to show its close relationship with social processes in thecountry. Despite all the changes in Swedish social life, Swedish literature still focuses on three main themes: social life,
personality psychology, and Christian humanism. |
