Summary: The article analyzes the information about invaders in the legends of southern and shimozerian Vepsians. The research relevance is associated with the analysis of transformation of ideas about the interventionists in the Vepsians traditional culture. The degree of preservation legends about them in the memory of modern informants is revealed. There is certain investigation about different ideas, which were typical for Vepsians what is related to “Polish pans” which were considered to be the first settlers in the land and the same time they are presented as invaders. An base of the results of the former researches and nowadays investigations there is an attempt to compare both ideas. Deep analysis was undertaken in the aspect of comparison. The main idea of research was to explain the attitude to the term “Polish pans” and “litva”. The investigations of the 20th century are compared with the results of the expeditions while the period 2017–2019, which had there place in Boksitogorsk and Vytegra districts. The article contains an assessment sacred places such as ancient burials and also preservation of historical memory of them in the testimonies of informants. The result of the research was the identification the surviving motives of the narrative about the interventionists in the modern population in the Vepsians area, and the localization of sacred objects still associated with the interventionists. The author identified cases of respect the traditions which associated with such objects.
