Karelia		 Summary: The history of ceramics production and its use in the daily life by ancient societies in the territory of Karelia begins in the middle of the fifth millennium BC. The ceramics and its ornamentation remain the main defining cultural markers for ancient communities of the Stone Age and the Early Metal Era. In the study of ceramics, an integrated approach is used to reconstruct all the main stages of pottery development. The article presents the results of studying the technology of making ancient pit-comb and rhomb-pit pottery during the Neolithic and the early Eneolithic periods (from the late fifth to the early third millennium BC).
