Keywords: Russian literature of the twentieth century Norwegian drama questions of reception comparative literature oeuvre of Andrei Bely and Henrik Ibsen creative activity as a life transformation or rebuilding of personality |
Summary: The questions of reception, reflection and transformation of the narrative-figurative and ideological layers of Henrik Ibsen’s dramas by Andrei Bely are raised in the article. Based on the works of the Russian symbolist, the first philological interpretation of the drama of the founder of the West-European «new drama» is given in the article. Apart from that, the link between the early works of Andrei Bely in the symbolist period and the last novel «Moscow» (1926-1932) is drawn through the interchange of images and motifs. The emphasis is placed on two key points of interpretation of H. Ibsen’s creativity: the subject of the fate and the associated motif of the mountain (spiritual) ascension of characters. Andrei Bely‘s interpretations of the narrative-figurative layer of plays by an eminent Norwegian writer are presented in the context of his original concept of dramatic art in the early twentieth century and a crucial symbolist idea – the alignment of life and creativity. |
