Summary: Among the important factors that influenced the outcome of the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939–1940, are the natural and climatic conditions
of combat operations, especially in the area of the Northern Ladoga area. Of particular relevance to the study of this issue is the
circumstance that it is poorly illuminated in special literature. The purpose of this article is to prove that the geographical, climatic
and weather conditions of the region under consideration at the time of the event significantly influenced the course of military operations
in the Northern Ladoga area. Large losses, in manpower and technology, the Red Army incurred, including, due to difficult
natural and weather conditions. As a conclusion, the thesis is based on not taking into account the whole set of external factors in the development of combat plans, which eventually led the Red Army to catastrophic consequences. |
