Summary: This article provides an analysis of the activities and social status of the clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church during the antireligious
persecution N. With. Khrushchev to the beginning of perestroika. The author characterizes the state control over the Church
personnel policy, the limitation of the scope of activity of the clergy as a result of the reform of the parish administration in 1961, and
identifies the problem of multi-state parishes in conditions when the number of parishes is disproportionately small compared to the
number of potential parishioners. On the basis of archival materials and published documents, it is shown that during its existence
in this period the Church was under the total control of the state, which in every way limited its canonical activity. At the same time,
she used the platforms of “fighters for peace”, “Patriotic activity” provided by the authorities, was able to prepare new highly professional personnel, to gain credibility not only in Soviet society, but also in the world. The correct use of very limited opportunities in the historical period in question depended largely on the personality of the Bishop or priest. |
