Summary: At the late 1980s Soviet Union entered into general crisis period, which finished with the collapse of USSR and total socio-political
and socio-economical systems change. In changed conditions only skilled and faithful to the profession historians could to realize
themselves and take out historical science on new requirement level. It’s possible to trace how it took place in historical science
of Karelia on a case study of N. A. Korablev (1947–2015) research activity. N. A. Korablev researched the history of Karelia in
1861–1917, also he was famous specialist in a field of historical and cultural monuments of Karelia research and protection. Нis
works allow as to reconstruct from contemporary positions many important events of the history of Karelia such as the First Russian
revolution of 1905–1907, the history of peasantry and business in 1861–1917, the impact of Stolypin agrarian reforms and First
World War on Karelia, urban history of Karelia (Petrozavodsk, Olonets and Pudozh), prosopography of Olonets province (gubernija)
governors, current state of monuments and memorial places, devoted to the Great Patriotic War, etc. It’s make conclusion in the
article, the high level professionalism and devotion to the Science allowed N. A. Korablev to realize himself successfully as in the Soviet period as in conditions of post-Soviet realities, and made a great contribution into research of the history of Karelia at the turning-point of the late 20th – early 21st centuries. |
