discursive strategy		 Summary: The article accounts for the semantic features of the political immigration discourse on the eve of the referendum on the UK membership in the EU in 2016. The author reveals and analyzes the argumentation strategy that forms the discourse of immigration, and illustrates its use on specific examples. The relevance of such an investigation is due to the growing scientific interest to the phenomenology of political discourse and its various aspects. The result of the analysis of publications shows the main argumentation schemes / topoi used by the newspaper for the argumentation of its position, the necessity of further studying the discourse of immigration, the development of discourse analysis with the purpose of increasing the effectiveness of speech interaction in the political sphere. The study of topoi and the identification of their semantic indicators made it possible to identify the characteristic features of the political discourse of immigration, as well as to determine the degree of effectiveness of political rhetoric. A holistic understanding of the nature, causes and consequences of immigration requires a systematic analysis of all discursive strategies in a broad social context.
